Kumon y’all conduct Community Consultation outside new Meanwhile Space

A group of young people from Kumon y’all conducted a Community Consultation outside our new Meanwhile Space in the Princess of Wales Shopping Centre recently.

Five young women participated in the consultation, bringing sweets, bottled water, toys and balloons to decorate the stall that they set up in the precinct. Amazingly, they surveyed the views of over eighty people in the space of just two hours! The girls were very enthusiastic and not the least bit shy in approaching passers-by to ask for their views, and did a brilliant job in representing both The Arcade Group and Kumon y’all on the day. One girl even made balloon animals and swords to occupy the kids whilst her friends spoke to the parents.

Everyone surveyed during the event expressed their support for The Arcade and were keen for the project to be a great success. Their views were carefully recorded, and will inform our plans to establish the UK’s first community-run shopping centre.   Founded in 2008, Kumon y’all is a Dewsbury-based grassroots charity which empowers young people to become change makers in the community through planning and delivering on social action projects. Kumon y’all’s projects aim to foster harmony and unity amongst communities whilst delivering projects which help to solve the long list of problems affecting modern day Britain. The planning, delivery and evaluation of each project is proudly done by young volunteers.
