Welcome to The Arcade

The wait is over! Dewsbury Arcade has officially reopened to the public, marking an exciting new chapter for the town centre.

Thanks to the grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to Kirklees Council, work that began in April 2024 has successfully brought this historic landmark back to life as the country’s first community-run shopping centre.

First opened in 1899 by architect Albert Holmes Kirk, the Arcade holds a special place in local hearts. Restored to showcase its beautiful 19th-century architecture, it is once again a bustling destination for independent shopping, local culture, and community events.
